Email Marketing Tips

Here are some useful tips on how you can get more results from your email marketing.

Send to professionals at around 11am on Wednesday or Thursday.

Statistically this is the best time of the day to capture peoples interest. Monday and Tuesday they have a full inbox and their tasklist is looking bleak, Friday they are already working out what they are doing on the weekend or on the Friday Night.

Research has shown that office professionals are more likely to respond during their lunch hours on "Hump Days"... the middle of the week. They have more time on their hands "pschologically" and they are more likely to review any offers or information you have,

Don't get discouraged by how people are reading your emails.

If you are using an excellent product like edmBlast then you will be measuring how many people are reading your emails. Many people get discouraged by the read rates of their emails, that is how many people actually open their emails.

The reality is that the across the board benchmark read rate is between 25-30% and this is the benchmark for successful newsletters. So if you are acheiving this then you are doing the right things.

If you aren't then there are many strategies that we can help you put in place to increase the read rate. Call us on 1800 230 042 if you require help.

Avoid certain word and phrases

Just about everyone now has an Anti-SPAM filter on their computers now, so we need to start thinking more about the content withing your mailout.

Using words like "Free", "Sale" and "Viagra" are big no no's which is a shame if you are a Pharmacutucal company but these are among a list of words commonly looked for by Spam Filters. So when you put your content together have a think about whether you are writing SPAM compliant text.

Structuring your email

To combat writers block whenever you write your email newsletter it is a good idea to have a formula that you follow every time. This formula can then be used everytime to prompt you for content.

For Example:

1) Informative Article

2) Special Offer with call to action (ideally it would relate to your informative article)

3) Something humourous.

Now this might not necessarily worl for your business, but you can see how it will get you thinking. The start has been provided for you.

Call To Action

3 small words with a massive message. Sure it has become quite a catch phrase amongst marketers and business coaches, but at the end of the day all it means is providing a simple way for your target market to contact you or even better buy immediately, and provide options for the different types of people. I like to email and await a response, so I like call to action that I can click on the email address and type my enquiry, but you can have any that suit your target market.
